25 Spanish masculine nouns ending in 'o'

This article brings you twenty-five masculine nouns that end in 'o', as well as some pronunciation tips to master them easily and a speaking drill.

You can hear these twenty-five Spanish nouns simply by clicking on them. To learn them well, focus on a noun until you can say it correctly and you've learned its meaning. Then move on to the next one on the list. Once you've gone through them all, have a go at the speaking drill below. Here are the masculine nouns and their English translation. As you can see, they're all common Spanish words that you'll need in conversation.

Pronunciation tips: to make sure you always say those nouns correctly, watch out for these common pronunciation mistakes: The 'o' at the end of all those nouns must not sound like the English 'o' in the words 'go' or 'no' (i.e. with an extra 'u' or 'w' sound at the end). Instead, it must sound like this: o The 'u' in the word 'el queso', and the 'h' in 'el huevo' and 'el hielo', are both silent. The double 'r' is one of the most difficult sounds in Spanish ...
