Tips on how to learn Spanish better and faster: (extracted from our book)

  • Reading the dialogues along with the Spanish speakers on the CDs will dramatically improve your pronunciation, intonation and speed.
  • Almost every Spanish word you learn you're bound to forget at some point. It's only by using them again and again that they'll stick.
  • The better your Spanish pronunciation, the more likely that Spanish people will want to talk to you!
  • Don't waste time making lists of words or flash cards. Instead, practise building up sentences with the words you've learned so far with this book and its CDs. They're all listed under the dialogue they first come up in, and included in the glossary at the end.
  • When a word comes with el or la always learn this too, rather than the noun on its own. It's no effort when you first come across the new word, but it's nightmarish when you have dozens to re-learn.
  • If you're starting to get mixed up and you've forgotten many of the words you've learned in this book, revise the last few lessons for a couple of days before you learn anything new.
  • Learning useful expressions is essential. People say them all the time, that's why we've included so many of them in this book.
  • Make sure you speak loudly and clearly when communicating in Spanish. Often the reason why people can't understand language learners is because they mumble and hesitate, and then say something too quietly.
  • Not all study days are equally fruitful. Sometimes you'll have the feeling that you're not learning anything. Occasionally you'll even feel that you're forgetting more than you're learning. Don't worry, this is normal, so just keep going.
  • Patience always pays off when studying a language.
