Technical questions about our cdrom:

  • How big is the Spanish cdrom window? 800 x 600 pixels, but you can see in also in full screen mode.
  • Does the full screen option affect my monitor display settings? No. When you exit the cdrom, your display settings go back to what they were before you chose the full screen option.
  • I'd like to have the cdrom window on the top right corner of my monitor, but whenever I go on to another screen, the window moves back to the centre. Is there a way of making it stay where I want? We haven't found a way yet, but we'll keep trying!
  • Can I record my voice with this cdrom? Yes, on all the lessons, the speaking games and the Spanish story you can record yourself an compare your pronunciation with that of the native speaker. Get a glimpse of the tape recorder.
  • What happens if I don't have a microphone? Without a microphone you'll be unable to record and hear yourself, this means that'll you'll be unable to use the tape recorder in the lessons and also to record yourself in the speaking games.
  • Is there a place where I can type in my notes, and keep them? Yes, and you can launch the notepad from every screen on this cdrom. On it you can type in the equivalent of 5 pages. Whatever you type in gets automatically saved onto your hard disk. In later sessions you can see, amend or delete your notes, as well as add content to it. Get a glimpse of the personal notepad on our cdrom.
  • Does each user have his own notepad? Yes. The five users get one notepad each.
  • Can I copy and paste notes from one user's notepad to another's? Yes. To do that, simply press Ctrl+C (copy) and Ctrl+V (paste), but notice that you have to login as user X to access user X's notepad.
  • Can I print out the contents of my notepad? The easiest way to print out your notepad contents is by copying and pasting them onto your usual word processor.
  • When I open two or more of the floating windows (the Spanish Talking Dictionary and Pronunciation Guide, for example) and then close one of them, sometimes both get closed at the same time. Is that normal? Yes, it is. To avoid that happening, close the window at the back first.
  • How can I turn the music off? Go to the index and on the screen where it says 'What do you want to do today?' press 'Turn music off'. The music will then be off until you exit the cdrom or change this setting.
  • How can I turn the beeps off? Go to the index and on the screen where it says 'What do you want to do today?' press 'Turn beeps off'. The beeps will then be off until you exit the cdrom or change this setting.
