In this lesson you'll learn 12 very common Spanish words, and then you'll play four games: speaking, listening, reading and typing games. To hear the Spanish words all you have to do is click on the pictures, the Spanish words or their English translation. You can click on them as many times as you want and in any order. On this screen, for example, you'll hear the words: la salchicha, el perro, la naranja, el pollo, la silla, la galleta, la llave, etc. To make sure you've learned all the Spanish words well, you can try hiding the English translation, you can hide the Spanish words, or you can hide both.
After you've learned those 12 words you get a speaking game. Here you get to practice saying the twelve words in a random order. First you see a picture and the English word that matches it, and you're asked to say it in Spanish. To check whether you've got it right, click on 'Play the answer' on the right hand side. If you said the right word, you then tick 'Yes' under 'Did you get it?'. If you didn't, you tick 'No'. To save your scores for future reference all you have to do is press Ctrl + s. To get the next picture click on 'Next word' on the right hand side.
Then comes the listening game. Here you get three pictures on the screen. When you click on the question mark above them you hear the Spanish word for one of them. Click on the picture that matches the word you've heard. Tick 'Yes' or 'No' under 'Did you get it?' to keep your score, press Ctrl + s to save it, and click on next set to get the next three pictures. If you want to have another go, click on 'Try again!'. There are twelve sets in total in this game, so you have plenty of opportunity to practice understanding the twelve words you've learned in this lesson.
Next is the reading game. Here you get a picture and a Spanish word above it. If the picture matches the word, click on 'That's it', if it doesn't, click on 'That's not it'. As before, you can have another go by clicking on 'Try again!' or you can type in your score, save it, and move on to the next set.
Finally you get the typing game. Here you click on the sound icons and type in next to them the Spanish words you hear. When you're done, press 'Click here to see the answers' and all twelve words will be revealed. As in all the games in this lesson, you can type in your score and save it, or you can have another go.
You can type in your final score for each of the games. You can then compare your score to that of your friends and family, or you can redo the games and monitor your progress. On the 'Your notes' page you can type in your notes and save them. For example, you can make a note of the words you're having difficulty with, or questions you may have.
