How to learn Spanish words

Spanish audio magazine

Are you fed up with trying to learn new Spanish words, only to forget them a day later? In my experience as a teacher and learner of foreign languages, most courses are simply not good enough to help you learn and retain new vocabulary. Why? For a number of reasons:

  • They introduce too many new words in one lesson
  • They don’t encourage you to review what you’ve learned
  • They teach you “useless” words that you’ll rarely need
  • They don’t include the new words in their audio material
  • They don’t have vocabulary drills
  • They don’t give you the translation of the new words

All those factors make it hard to expand your vocabulary and achieve a steady progress. So, what’s the solution? I’ve looked at dozens of publications for my intermediate and advanced students, and the one that in my view stands out for its quality and price is the Puerta del Sol audio magazine. You can see a free demo.

This bi-monthly audio magazine not only teaches you useful, everyday vocabulary, it also comes with vocabulary exercises and Spanish audio flashcards where you can practise the new vocabulary. Each issue has a 60-minute audio cd, and a printed magazine with the full Spanish transcript and a Spanish-English glossary.

The current subscription prices are: six months - $79, one year - $129 and two years - $239.
