Spanish audio magazine - review and subscriptions

Spanish audio magazine

Finding good study material for intermediate, and especially for advanced students of Spanish, is notoriously difficult. The Champs-Elysées Spanish audio magazine entitled Puerta del Sol is an honorable exception. I've often used it with my students to make lessons more enjoyable, and they've always liked it, but you don't have to take my word for it. You can see for yourself what this magazine looks like, and how it sounds, in the free demo at the bottom of this page.

Puerta del Sol is a bimonthly one-hour long Spanish audio magazine on cd or cassette aimed at intermediate and advanced students. It has lots of articles on all things Spanish: movie reviews, travel, song lyrics and recordings, current affairs, interviews with famous and interesting Spanish-speaking people, social issues, and food and wine write-ups. It also has very useful vocabulary and verb drills to help you practise the words you learn in each issue.

You can get a 6-month subscription for $79, a 1-year subscription for $129 and a 2-year subscription for $239.

Puerta del Sol is not only an audio magazine, it's also a 30-odd page printed magazine with the full transcript of the audio material and a comprehensive Spanish-English glossary. Also, for a small additional fee, you can get study supplements on cd and paper in the form of drills and audio flashcards.

This audio magazine is excellent if you want to expand your Spanish vocabulary fast and improve your listening comprehension skills. If you want to practise talking, the drills on the study supplements will be of great help.

Every issue is fully recorded by native Spanish speakers with a variety of accents and follows an entertaining radio-style format. Like all audiobooks, the Puerta del Sol audio magazine can be listened to while commuting, traveling, cooking, cleaning, walking the dog or at the gym.
