Hola! Hi, Welcome back to my Spanish Podcasts for Beginners. This is lesson 10.
In this podcast we're going to hear a dialog at a supermarket. Then we'll go through it line by line in both Spanish and English. Then, like in the previous lessons, we'll hear all the new words and phrases with their English translation. In the grammar section we'll learn how to build the plural of nouns and describing words ending in a consonant. Finally, we'll learn numbers seventy to seventy-nine. As in every podcast, we'll do exercises and drills to practise speaking and understanding Spanish.
Dialog at a supermarket - part 1
Today we're going to hear Francisco asking a shop assistant where to find a number of items, and then we'll follow him as he buys some fruit from the counter. Listen to the dialog twice, even if you think you're going to understand very little. That will help you develop your listening comprehension skills. Afterwards we'll go through the dialog line by line and we'll hear its English translation.
Francisco: Vale. ¿Me puede poner medio kilo?
Dependienta: ¿Alguna cosa más?
Francisco: No. Eso es todo. ¿Pago aquí o en caja?
Dependienta: Se paga todo en caja.
Francisco: Muchas gracias. Hasta luego.
Dependienta: Hasta luego. ¿Quién es el siguiente?
Dialog - English translation
Frank: Excuse me, can you tell me where the trolleys and baskets are?
Shop assistant: At the main entrance.
Frank: And do you know where I can find the oil and the fruit?
Shop assistant: The oil is next to the meat, and the fruit in the central aisle.
Frank: Good morning, can you give me one kilo of strawberries, two of bananas and a half of kiwis?
Shop assistant: Anything else?
Frank: Yes, two kilos of apples, a melon and a watermelon.
Shop assistant: What else?
Frank: How much do the grapes cost?
Shop assistant: Two fifty per kilo.
Frank: OK. Can you give me half a kilo?
Shop assistant: Anything else?
Frank: No. That's everything. Do I pay here or at the till?
Shop assistant: Everything's paid at the till.
Frank: Thank you very much. See you later.
Shop assistant: See you later. Who's next?
