Speaking exercise one:

as in lesson 8, we're going to review the gender of the words we've seen so far. I'm going to say twenty Spanish words without 'el' or 'la' . Can you tell me which of the two goes with each word. I'll give you the answer after you tell me.

  • arroz - el, el arroz, the rice
  • atún - el, el atún, the tuna
  • basura - la, la basura, the rubbish
  • café - el, el café, the coffee
  • carne - la, la carne, the meat
  • cerveza - la, la cerveza, the beer
  • chocolate - el, el chocolate

Speaking exercise two:

can you translate these five sentences into Spanish? They're all sentences we've heard in this lesson' dialog at the apartment. I'll say each English sentence ones, and then after a gap, I'll say the Spanish translation twice. At first, this exercise will be difficult and fast. Try doing it several times over the next few days, and you'll notice a great improvement.

  • Where should we leave the rubbish? - ¿Dónde se deja la basura?
  • When do they open the swimming pool in the morning? - ¿Cuándo abren la piscina por la mañana?
  • Where can we park the car? - ¿Dónde podemos aparcar el coche?
  • Are there any supermarkets near here? - ¿Hay algún supermercado aquí cerca?
  • Here you have all the information that you need. - Aquí tienen toda la información que necesitan.
